Completionist, perfect walkthroughs should wait a replay. First time players should, IMHO and in any RPG, try the hardest to feel like they live in that world, and do things as they please. On recommending it to newcomers: I never mentioned the list was for newcomers (spoilers for the entire trilogy are warned about!). Remember though, the information from Noveria has not much use without Feros' Cipher to lead you to Ilos (as Liara herself points out, the Mu Relay leads to dozens of star systems and she couldn't pinpoint the exaxt location until Shepard's visions are made clear). Obviously when you are playing this game for the 5th time, you can change it up since you already know the story, but for newcomers I honestly think that telling them to go to Noveria first is bad advice because in terms of story, it should be the last thing to do before going to Virmire. Like I said, it breaks the flow of the story and that sense of urgency is lost. It makes more sense to me to do it this way because after you receive the info about Virmire, and specially about the Mu Relay, it feels wrong to spend an eternity exploring systems and planets and doing trivial things like the galaxy isn't at risk and specially when Saren has the info he needs to proceed with his plan.

This is why I do most side missions (including DLC) before and after recruiting Liara and before going to Feros. I know some people say it's best to leave Feros as the last mission because it requires high Charm/Intimidate in a certain conversation, but it's entirely possible to get the necessary score before you meet the person in question without going to Noveria first. Going to Feros after Noveria not only does it make the conversation with Shiala redundant (because you already know everything that is important to know if you went to Noveria first) it's literally a waste of time at that point. It completely breaks the flow of the story. Specially when they recommend this to new players. I honestly can't understand why people do Noveria before Feros. So I just pretend the Council only informed about Virmire after the last major world. I know we are informed of Virmire's urgency way early, but it's akin to ME2's Arrival - you are informed of an urgent mission just past the middle of the game, but most players simply leave it until dead last. I just ignore Virmire until last, since the events (Squadmate death) and revelations (genophage cure, Sovereign as the Reaper) are MUCH better as the narrative climax than "so, the Mu Relay's location is now in your omni-tool". However, I like how Noveria sets up the odds, then Feros closes it up. My reason to do Feros before Noveria is the urgency of a damn geth attack. So basically, what good is knowing the Mu Relay's location, if you don't have any idea from where to go after reaching it? Without the Thorian's information, not even Saren knew about Ilos' location.

Remember though, the information from Noveria has not much use without Feros' Cipher to lead you to Ilos (as Liara herself points out, the Mu Relay leads to dozens of star systems and she couldn't pinpoint the exact location until Shepard's visions are made clear). Doing Feros before Noveria is perfectly valid too in my humble opinion.

As I said, I think the mission order is very subjective.
